A Guide to Identifying a Schrade Knife

Search for a tang stamp that either says “Schrade” or has the initials “SCC” or “SCCo” in their place. The tang of the blade is located either at the base of a drop blade or in close proximity to the base of a fixed blade.
Examine the tang seal for the initials UH or OT; if you find any of these, the knife is a product of the Uncle Henry or Old Timer brand.

Look for a pattern number on the knife, which should be located in a different location from the tang mark. It may be written on the reverse side of the paper. This sequence consists of numerous digits, or multiple digits plus letters, and there is a possibility that it also contains a fraction. These measurements reveal a great deal about the blade.
